Things I didn't know I was good at

Occasionally I discover that I am apparently good at something, or at least not as bad at it as most everyone else. I usually discover this by having someone praise something I did unexpectedly. Sometimes this is pleasant, sometimes embarrassing, and sometimes just odd. Usually I find praise like this ends up setting me up for the pride that goeth before the fall.

Today the head of operations praised a request I had sent to operations asking them to do something, explaining why they should do it, and then how they should do it. Either I am unusually good at explanations, or the requests sent to operations are normally in a very sad state. Probably a bit of both, with heavy emphasis on the latter.

I willing to bet that 9 out of 10 "requests" most operations teams receive are phrased in the form of "do something, kthxbye". :)
