Bad personal pages

So what do you say when a friend's web page just makes you cringe with its bad design? I mean, my site is nothing special, but it tells you that its nothing special right up front and doesn't take five minutes to load. Is there a friendly way to say "You know, I think your web site will look better/download faster/make more sense if you ...?"

I guess that I'll just let it go unless I'm asked. I may however go over to web pages that suck and indulge in their rants on the evils and ugliness of rampant web page experimentation. (What is the fascination with fonts other than the standard serif and non-serif?)

Fonts are cool, but I think it's like math. either you get it or you don't. It's okay if you don't. I don't get math. :) (I do get fonts, though.)
