So here I am

So I've finally gotten one of these things, after watching several of my online friends migrate over here. Watching my sister's blog may also have influenced me.

And now, of course, I don't know what to put here. Oh I suppose I could put some sort of introduction about myself here, but what purpose would that serve? That's what personal web pages are for. Besides, I find it hard to believe that anyone who hasn't already met me somewhere else would care.

I encountered the same problem when filling out my interests - I couldn't think of anything to write. Sure I could say "mathematics", but somehow that doesn't fit. See, I made the mistake of looking to see what other people had listed that as their interests and ... well, I'm not sure I actually like mathematics nearly as much as those people do - they seem to be passionate about it to an extent I was only at the very beginning of grad. school.

Ah yes, so there's something about me - I'm a grad. school survivor. Three years of mathematics graduate school at Johns Hopkins. I'd like to think that it would be better were I to re-enter graduate school now (for factors having to do with both me and with Hopkins), but that's not an option at this point in my life. Besides, the whole experience still burns.

I also considered putting down "embedded programming", but who am I kidding - my forays into that so far consist of reading a bunch of web sites and buying a bunch of ICs (a Microchip PIC 16F877 and several buffering logic chips). It's the kind that always seems interesting to me, but I never seem to quite have the energy to go ahead and put stuff together.

I'm thinking that this lack of interest in much of anything - or at least, a lack of any ability to think of interests - is just sleep deprivation talking. Tomorrow will be better, surely.
